CURSILLO "FOURTH DAY"

The Cursillo Movement's "Fourth Day" is the lifelong journey after the initial three-day weekend, focusing on living out one's faith in daily life by transforming environments for God's kingdom through consistent prayer (piety), study, and action, supported by small "Group Reunions" and larger "Ultreyas" (gatherings) for fellowship, learning, and spiritual growth within the wider Cursillo community (the "Fourth Day Community").

What the Fourth Day Means

  • A Lifelong Commitment: It's not just the end of the weekend but the beginning of intentional Christian living in the world.
  • Transforming Your Environment: The goal is to bring Christian values and God's presence into your family, work, and community.
  • Piety, Study, Action (PSA): This forms the core practice for the Fourth Day.
  • Piety: Developing a personal, intimate relationship with God (prayer, sacraments).
  • Study: Using your mind to understand God's truth (Scripture, theology).
  • Action: Responding to God's love by serving others and witnessing to Christ.

How it's Lived Out

  • Group Reunions: Small groups of Cursillistas meet regularly to share experiences, struggles, and triumphs, offering mutual encouragement.
  • Ultreyas: Larger gatherings of the broader Cursillo community (the "Fourth Day Community") for fellowship, prayer, and learning, linking smaller groups.
  • Spiritual Direction: Seeking guidance from a Spiritual Director to grow beyond comfortable spiritual habits.
  • "De Colores": A traditional song and greeting symbolizing being "in colors," meaning in God's grace, used by Cursillistas.

The Purpose
To sustain the initial conversion experience from the weekend and empower individuals to be Christ-centered leaders, building God's Kingdom in their daily lives and environments.
